Author Visit Offerings
All my offerings can be tailored for in-person or virtual visits. I am available for individual or multiple presentations, with a max of 4 presentations per visit.
In-Person: $250 per presentation | Virtual: $150 per presentation *For in-person visits over 40 mi away from Fairfax, VA, travel expenses will be incurred.
From Idea to Book
(Best suited for grades K-6 | 30-45 minutes) I’ll guide students through my author’s journey: from reading and writing (a lot!) to becoming a picture book author. We’ll discuss how a book becomes a book, and how many people it takes to make a picture book. We’ll wrap up with a brief Q&A and an interactive reading of my most recent title.
How to RWR Like a Picture Book Author
(Best suited for grades 4-6 | 45-60 minutes) Get ready to Read, Write, and Revise like a picture book author! We’ll talk about ideas, the importance of reading, and the power of revision to turn a written idea into a beautiful story. I’ll guide readers through an interactive revision process where we’ll edit for strong verbs and read-aloud-ability. We’ll wrap up with Q&A.
SEL Takeaways and Reading Comprehension
(Best suited for grades PreK-K | 10-20 minutes) After a brief introduction and an interactive reading of one of my books, I’ll guide students to share their thoughts about the main character’s conflict and solution. We’ll reflect on some questions and wrap up with a brief Q&A.
